Well hi there! I'm Darren. Everyone has a tough time with these self-summaries, so here's my attempt... I'm a very laid back kinda guy, a bit on the shy side til I get a beer. Playing & listening to music is a big part of my life. Whether I am at a concert or listening at home I give myself up to the music. I am comfortable groovin' to some hard funk or swaying to a languid love song. As rewarding as listening to music is, playing it is even better. Sitting around my living room playing music with a select group of friends is one of the most rewarding pastimes I have.

This is a strange site. I've used a different online dating service and met some great people. I'm not sure if I trust this place nearly as much. I have a rather high-profile job. SO a new day comes and it's time to make a new profile on OKCUPID! I have come to the decision that right now being able to enjoy time with my family is important as life is all too quickly reaching that point where my family isn't quite as young as they used to be and they're not going to be getting any younger...as such I have moved being able to cherish the times I have with them as an important factor in my life, especially the family vacations.

I'm a recovering perfectionist. I'm trying to do more things that scare me. I'm trying to just do more things. I love building things, in my mind and in the world. I think in 3D, sometimes 4D and occasionally 5D. I love to figure things out, why things are the way they are why people do what they do. I love to look at beautiful things. I like to solve problems, I like to find problems that people never knew they had, then solve them. I like to think about big ideas. I ride a motorcycle, sometimes at a racetrack. I once broke my ribs and my hand at a motorcycle safety class. I love my Mom and Dad. I helped rescue a dog, he trusts people now. I like to read stories, it's like meditation to me. Sometimes I stay up too late reading. Sometimes I go to Barnes&Nobel and read several books. I don't get jealous, I never have. I like sex, dirty and frequent. I'm always faintly surprised when someone likes me. I wish I could sketch better. I hate meanness and cruelty, the world is hard enough without actively making it worse. I hate to see people or animals in pain. I like to listen to people, I like to help them figure things out. I hate talking about traffic or the weather. I love listening to amazing anecdotes and I wish I had more of my own. Most of mine aren't for polite company. I'm trying to find impolite company. I know how to put out a forest fire, a burning airplane, and a house. I'm quiet and a little shy, sometimes it takes little while for me to get comfortable with new people. Sarcasm is not foreign to my nature.

I am in the process of moving from Minneapolis to Illinois. After living in Minnesota for 15 years I will be coming back home to be with my family and friends. Should be a lot of fun!

After my last moved, I took a good look at my profile here to see what needed updating and what I could improve and realized something quite profound: I am exactly what I have presented here. Despite the simple fact that no, it is not likely to get me a date, I am okay with it. I decided a while ago that I would present the world who I really am and damned be anyone who doesn't like it. If you cannot accept my profile, I do not see how you could accept me.

Guess this needs to be added. I have no interest in having kids at all. I don't particularly want them around me either. So if you have them or want them, I am not someone you want to talk to.

Imagine a weird mix of Japanese culture and American Culture and you have a pretty good picture of what I am like. I lived in Japan as a child and more recently studied there. I speak Japanese with some level of fluency. I watch anime. I do play video games. I at one time did Japanese fencing, kendo, but had to stop as work is interfering with it. I write short stories, but haven't really been doing much after a major harddrive crash erased a lot of them. I roomed with some Japanese friends for a while, but they are in Japan again. They are friends that I made while I studied in Japan. I grew up in Montana and camped quite often in the summer and went hiking every chance I got. I would still like to do that.

I am a corporate professional working out of Minnetonka. My job has kept me on the road for the better part of the last year and a half. Being away that much makes it hard to meet people when I do get back into town. I am more home based right now and am looking to meet new people. I enjoy getting to know people and am not here just to hook up, it is much better to get to know someone first and then see where things go from there.

I enjoy most anything in life from different music to events, travel and sports. I am not a freak about any one, pretty diverse.

Well, I've just re-read this profile and have realized that I rambled a lot, and think I might have come off slightly bitchy during my rant... I'll leave it, but put this warning first, Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover, and really don't judge me by the way you interpret my ramblings...

Here goes...

Well, I'm part Irish so I have the temper and the ability to hold my drinks, as well as having the red hair :) The temper usually fizzles out after a short bit, and I don't drink often, but when I do I don't use it as a way to get plastered, because that's just stupid.

I like going out and catching a movie, or going for a walk, or anything really. I'm not uber picky about where I go, because I more enjoy spending time with the other person instead of focusing on the WHERE we spend our time.

I love taking pictures, and really enjoy going places just to look around and see the sites. I adore animals and so going to the zoo is one of my favorite places to be, so that way I can take my pictures and see all the animals.

I'm generally a quiet and shy person until I get comfortable and know you better, and then I open up quite a bit. I do have a sense of sarcasm, and I wind up being sarcastic more often than serious. I love to joke around so long as no one gets hurt, and feel that a sense of humor is HUGE in any relationship.

I like talking on the phone, but need someone who will respond and talk back to me. I like asking questions and learning more about the other person, but still need them to ask me also. One-way conversations get really boring rather quickly, and I hate being bored.

I get frustrated with stupid people, or people who are just mean/cruel, and those that won't stand up for what they think/want. If you're here on Earth, you shouldn't just be pushed around, and you should go for what you want.. life is too short to just be pushed around, or to just be stupid ;).

I always add lots of those silly smiley faces to e-mails and notes that I write, and I'm not sure why... though maybe it's because reading sarcasm is a whole lot different than hearing it, and I don't want to be mis-understood.

Which reminds me, I also get really annoyed with people who e-mail or write notes in chat speak... come on, you're HOW old and you can't spell?? Seriously. I know I screw up a few words here and there, and everyone does typos but sending someone, who you want to be serious about a note saying "U R Hott" is just ridiculous. If you don't get my attention in a positive way with that first note, I probably won't respond.... and that goes for "Woo"s too. Yes, it's nice to hear that someone thinks I'm hot, but it's better to hear that someone actually read my profile and has something to SAY to me, other than taking the cheap way out and hoping I'll respond to a "Woo".

Anyways let's see about adding some of those bracket things... I love renfest, music, horseback riding, talking on the phone, reading, writing, drawing, Inuyasha, Family Guy, Simpsons, D&D (yeah I'm a geek.. sue me)..Applebee's, painting.... think that's good for now....

I am a vegatarian don't like to see animals hurt or killed needlessly. I play computer games, would like to meet someone who at least knows basic computer operation, however it would be fun to teach someone about computers if they were interested in learning about them. I like music but am very picky, I prefer Irish Folk music, Japanese Pop, some rock and 80's. Consider myself politically left wing. Like to read fantasy books. Love to watch Gilmore Girls, one of the only shows that I make sure not to miss. Like romantic movies and have been known to cry while watching them.

Well I'm really only doing this for fun and shits and giggles. I'm currently working at a 8-4:30 (first clue) soul crushing, mind-numbing, any monkey provoked with a banana could do, Data entry company (no type writers though, so much for socially uplifting works of literature). A job that, ironically, only compels my desire for more extra-curricular socializing.

I was born and raised here in Minnesota, but that does not mean i like the cold! I only still live here because of friends and extreme fear (not really that extreme, more mild weariness) of finding something crawling in my shoes when i put them on (Kiss my white ass deserts).

As far as interests go, I'm your basic guy i suppose with a few exceptions. I'm really not that big a sports or car fan. I know, WTF right? I'll watch a game of Football or Hockey if there's nothing else to do, but it doesn't rule my life. The occasional movie, video game, TV show, that's my thing. In winter, i hear there have been rare sightings of me on a snowboard, but I'm more likely to be seen on a sled. I see myself as more of a social person. If propositioned for a drink, I'll be sitting impatiently in the car for you to get your damn shoes on.

My personal goal is to find a way to appear to be cultured, but not pretentious. Sophisticated in a way that is subdued, but approachable? I'm not sure how to put it into words.

Working full time at a technology company as test engineer (I make hardware and software break!) and enjoy it very much. In the off time I try to mix it up; seeing live music, playing in a pickup league of kickball, reading various genres of books. I listen to a wide variety of music, alternative, metal, hip hop, garage punk and few other sub categories. I also enjoy social psychology and political discussions.

I'm in decent physical shape and exercise at a gym regularly. I drink alcohol socially, don't smoke, and don't have any kids. I've never been married. I don't have pets right now because I tend to travel a bit for work, and I wouldn't want to leave them alone!

I'm looking an affectionate woman who can laugh and tell a joke or two, appreciates literary works, a sense of humor, and the guts to show it! Someone who I can be friends with first, who has some overlapping interests with mine.

I'm quiet with people I don't know, but once you get to know me I'm fun, friendly, and talkative. I am a software engineer for a medical devices company and find the problem-solving aspects of my job very satisfying. I'm definitely goal-oriented and like to plan things out, but spontaneity can be a lot of fun in the absence of plans. In general I prefer to go out and do fun activities during the day and stay home and relax in the evenings. Here's a little about me. I'm an elementary school teacher. I love working with kids. They make each day fly by for good and for bad. I am employed. I'm no sugar daddy, but I'm debt free and pay my bills on time. I have nice teeth (the dentist tells me so once a year). I'm a bit of a home body and like the quiet. I am a computer engineer and belong to India. Recently I have relocated to MN for a project. I am looking for a good set of friends here. I like to party, freak out with friends, watch movies, listen to music and just enjoy the time I get besides working.

I'm a family man...i spend a lot of time with my sis and my nieces. I hunt and fish with my brother-in-law. I talk to my mother every week. I'm close to the people I keep in my life as friends. I love science and stupid comedies. I live to make it seem like I know everything, which is mostly true. I may also challenge any opinion, position, or belief you have that I don't understand.

I don't sleep at night.

My brain does not really have a working filter, and I will say and do dumb, inappropriate, and embarrassing things. I am satisfied with this most of the time. I never know when to take myself seriously or when I'm being too frivolous.

I think beards are sexy, and so should you.

I want to go on an adventure. Out of the city, out of the state, out of the country, or off the planet. I'm not picky. I just don't want to go alone.

I don't want you to think this is a big deal, but I'm an atheist. I'm not going to be in your face about it, but you should be aware.

Other people keep me sane. I can't go more than a few days without some kind of social contact.

I often feel like I'm living in the wrong time. Victorian England, Ancient Rome, the west in the late 19th century, the post-singularity future, and the late 60's all have attractive qualities to me.

I am not the prettiest princess at the ball. If this is a deal-breaker for you, I'm sure I'll get over it. I am, however, awesome. I am smart and funny, and have a supportive and empowering nature. What does this mean for you? It's a mystery! You should message me and find out.

How's it? I'm not so sure what to write here, as I am a complex man. I love a good story, the medium doesn't particularly matter, but I almost always like the book more than the movie. I love music-I am always humming or singing or using my thighs as drums because there is always a song going through my head, which is interesting because I'm not a big fan of drums overall. What else is there to tell? I like to cook, but I hate cleaning up afterwards (p.s: I make the world's greatest spaghetti, even better than your mom's (don't take that personally-it's better than my mom's too), and I make fantastic snickerdoodles). I love parenthetical statements (can't you tell?). I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with England. I love portmanteaus. The combining of two or more words and their definitions I mean, not the suitcase. Although I do own a portmanteau, so I'm not against the suitcase either.

I am a fun loving woman who loves trying new things. I have many passions which include working with children, photography and music. All play a big part in my life. I am currently going to school for teaching and can't wait to become a teacher. I love to travel and am hoping to do more of that. I just recently went to Egypt and it was amazing. I would love to find someone who shares the same interests and passions as I do. Whether it is traveling, photography or music doesn't matter. Not a must but I would like to find someone to share them with. I am also more than willing to try new things I like to go to new places and try new food. I like watching movies and love to cuddle up on the couch at night and pop in a good movie. I would like to go to more movies but the rising prices tend to prevent that sometimes. I play softball as well during the summer and in the fall we tended to be on the loosing end all the time but it was a ton of fun to play. I also enjoy camping quite a bit and try to go as much as I can during the summer. I would love to go camping more it is just so relaxing and carefree. I also have a cabin up north and would go there over a lot of places if I could. It is on a beautiful lake wtih crystal clear waters. Also it is near the boundry waters and it is just georgous up there.

I also believe the more you travel and are exposed to other cultures the more humble you become. I just recently traveled to Egypt and learned so much. I would love to travel more and expose myself to other cultures and bring that back and teach others about those cultures or bring them into the classroom that I hope to teach one day.

Hey everyone! I am very new to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and trying to meet some people, so a friend suggested I check this place out. I've reached what I think is sort of an unusual realization. I am incredibly happy with my life just as it is. Finally. It's taken nearly 33 years, but I've got the big issues sorted out. I'm one of those guys who, when he's walking around, looks like he's thinking about something but when you ask 'what are you thinking about?' he doesn't have anything to say.
